Feeling Saucy: The Sauces & Dressings at DD Mau
Feeling saucy! We get lots of questions about the various sauces and dressings we have available to accompany our local Vietnamese eats. As your neighborhood quick-service Vietnamese restaurant in St. Louis, we pride ourselves on providing fresh and fast food that is bursting with flavor. A big part of that is our sauces, ranging from sweet to savory, from mild to spicy, from traditional to inventive.
Below is a rundown of all the sauces and dressings currently available on our menu. It includes a description of what they taste like, what allergy and dietary restrictions they meet, and suggested pairings for each.
Before we dive into it, if you are curious which sauces are safe for you to eat or align with your dietary restrictions, look no further. Here is a quick look at some of the common dietary questions we are asked about our offerings.
Vegan: Our vegan sauces are our hoisin, sweet chili, peanut, spicy peanut, and vegan Vietnamese vinaigrette dressings.
Gluten free: All of our sauces are gluten free except for hoisin, peanut and spicy peanut.
Peanut free: Our DD dressing, Spicy DD dressing, hoisin, lime ranch, sweet chili, creamy sweet chili, Vietnamese vinaigrette and vegan Vietnamese vinaigrette do not contain peanuts.

DD Dressing:
This sweet and creamy white sauce is our house dressing. It is a mayo-based sauce, made primarily of eggs and oil.

Spicy DD Dressing:
Our Spicy DD dressing is just like our standard DD dressing, but with an extra little kick! This creamy white sauce is less sweet, and more spicy.

Hoisin:
Hoisin sauce is thick, fragrant, and dark in color. It combines sweet and salty flavors into one delectable dipping sauce. The flavors of red chili pepper and garlic are evident in this savory sensation.

Lime Ranch:
For a light and refreshing flavor, give our lime ranch dressing a try. Traditional ranch dressing with a hint of lime pairs perfectly with many of our Vietnamese dishes.

Peanut:
You can’t go wrong with a good peanut sauce! Ours is creamy and full of flavor. Great for pouring over a bowl or dipping in!

Spicy Peanut:
Our regular peanut sauce with elevated spice! If you’re looking for a sauce that combines flavor and spice, this is the perfect choice.

Sweet Chili:
Our sweet chili sauce brings together the best of both worlds: Sweet and spicy. It is a great dipping condiment that brings the spice and flavor of peppers, but sweetened up to be tame enough to enjoy.

Creamy Sweet Chili:
We took our sweet chili sauce and made it creamy! This sweet and spicy treat is less traditional than some of our other offerings, but tastes just as good.

Vietnamese Vinaigrette:
This is our version of traditional nuoc mam, or fish sauce. It’s savory, it’s zesty, and it’s a staple of Vietnamese cuisine.

Vegan Vietnamese Vinaigrette :
Fish sauce, but made vegan. All the flavor and zest of our Vietnamese vinaigrette, just without the animal products.
